At present, there are five kinds of known types of fuel cells. Its name and adopted the corresponding electrolyte relevant.
(1), alkaline fuel cell (AFC) using potassium hydroxide solution as electrolyte. The efficiency of this electrolyte (up to 60 1 90%), but affected the purity of the impurities, such as carbon dioxide is very sensitive. Operation and thus required the use of pure states of hydrogen and oxygen. This limits its application for space flight and the international engineering and other fields.
(2), proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) using thin plastic film as the electrolyte. This electrolyte has a high power-weight ratio and low operating temperature. Are applicable to fixed and mobile devices an ideal material.
(3), phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC) use of high temperature 200 ℃ phosphate as its electrolyte. Very suitable for distributed cogeneration systems.
(4), molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) operating temperature up to 650 ℃. The efficiency of such batteries, but the material demands of high demand.
(5), solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) are used in solid-state electrolyte (Diamond oxide), a very good performance. They need to adopt the appropriate course of treatment materials and technology, because the inspiron 2500 battery operating temperature is about 1000 ℃.
At present, some research institutions in the ongoing fuel cell development and research. However, in the internationally recognized, in the past decade, PEMFC technology has been developed to a practical stage. However, its process of industrialization is not yet ripe. But also make further efforts to reduce the cost of this technology.
